Indiana Jones Snickers and M&Ms

Indiana Jones is on his way back.  I always liked the old movies, but I’m wondering just how much the age of the star will affect the ‘realism’ (yes, I know it was never realistic).  Anyway, the important thing is that it is resulting in some limited edition candies.  I found two of them at my local CVS – Mint Crisp M&Ms and Snickers Adventure Bar.

“Satisfy your taste for adventure!  Rich chocolate.  Crunchy nuts.  And a cliffhanger kick of exotic spice and a hint of sweet coconut flavor.”  I don’t generally consider spices and coconut to be a cliffhanger, but I’m not a Hollywood type.  There is also no spice or coconut on the ingredients list, but there is the generic “natural and artificial flavors” that covers a multitude of sins.

The taste is… not that different than a Snickers bar.  There is a coconut flavor, which I enjoy, with a slight cinnamon spice.  It seems sweeter than a normal Snickers bar, and it leaves a slightly peculiar aftertaste.  It’s a fairly one-note variation on a typical Snickers, but I kind of like it.

The M&M Mint Crunch is pretty decent, too.  The pieces are unevenly sized, colored in varying combinations of green and white.  The crunch in the middle comes from a cookie piece with a texture similar to a rice crisp.  The flavor is fairly strong, and the mint dominates the chocolate.  It leaves an oily feel in my mouth, which is a bit of a downer.  The chocolate in these is semisweet, not milk, and the candies aren’t as sweet as I expected.  I don’t know if I would get them over plain milk chocolate M&Ms, but like the Snickers Adventure Bar, they’re an interesting variation.

SCORE: 6.5 out of 10

I liked the Snickers… but echo your impressions of finding very little difference between it and a regular snickes

I love the M&M mint crisp ones! Though I’m a huge mint fan so the strong flavour is appealing to me. Also, I prefer to have semi-sweet or even dark chocolate with mint flavouring as milk chocolate is too sweet.

Anyone remember before these were rebranded and called “Marathon”?
